After the heady day out, its time to return back to Cape Town.
Today head out to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of South Africa. Visit the ostrich farm, and watch the race. Stop by the fascinating limestone formations in nearby Cango caves.
Head to the quaint village of Kynsna via George today. Its a waterfront village that offers a range of interesting shops and restaurants serving Kynsna Oysters. Truly, the Oysters are worth the trip out there.
Today head to the Featherned Nature Reserve which contains small buck and abundant bird life is accessible only by ferry. Take a trailer ride to to the top of the Western head.
It's time to play with Dolphins! Take a cruise to see Dolphins and whales at the Plettenberg Bay. Watch them as they show off their skills on water aerobics! This may be your only good opportunity to get close to Humpback Whales in their natural habitat. The boat takes you towards Arch Rock where there are often sightings of Bottlenose Dolphins and various shark species. Then head out into the middle of the bay and see Bryde's, southern right and humpback Whales, along with common dolphins. From there you move to the point of the Robberg Peninsula, a more wild side, where you can spot larger groups of whales and pods of dolphins. Before heading back make a turn along the inside of Robberg and past the growing Cape fur seal colony. Why miss out on Seals while Whale Watching? On route, visit Monkeyland Sanctuary and enjoy a series of watersports at Keurbooms.
Today takes you to the picturesque scenery at Port Elizabeth airport where you return your car and fly to Johannesburg. On arrival, collect your rental car. Self drive to hotel and check in. .
What was once a 19th-century gold-mining settlement is now a happening place with fantastic shopping and entertainment with malls, restaurants, cafes and bars. Must see places here are the Soweto township, that was once home to Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Mandela’s former residence is now the Mandela House museum. Also check out the Soweto museums that recount the struggle to end segregation with the somber Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill, a former prison complex. Being in South Africa and not knowing about the incredible history is a crime. Close the day with some light-hearted shopping and fun.
It's time to say good bye to the Garden Route that gave you such a joy in the past few days. It's time to fly home.
