Its just 5 miles and about 3 hours long. This hike is also a great way to see Cinque Terre. You will then arrive at Monterosso, use this time to explore the local villages either by train or boat.
Today is about Corniglia and Vernazza. Corniglia is a beautiful rebel village built far above the ocean on the cliffs with 365 steps (one for each day of the year) raising to reach the center of town.
The most beautiful village of Cinque Terre is Vernazza. It's a one-street town with a church built on the water. With a castle and the remains of the old wall that protected against pirates, this village is the most photogenic village with a gorgeous waterfront piazza and a harbor with a spit of sand. It's sheer perfection.
After the exploration, learn the art of making Pesto at a class organized for you. After enjoying a glass of sparkling wine accompanied by a local extra virgin olive oil on a bruschetta, you will taste pesto made with the modern method. Then you will assist the demonstration and explanation of the pesto sauce made with mortar. Finally the moment will come to make your own pesto with the mortar: wash and dry the basil leaves, pound them together with salt, pine nuts and garlic, add the parmesan cheese and at the end the extra virgin olive oil. You will get a concentrated and perfumed pesto cream, which can be used on pasta or on a slice of bruschetta. At the end, you will enjoy your own hand-made pesto together with a glass of white wine and some typical local products such as taggiasche olives (small and black olives from Liguria), bruschetta with anchovies and a typical pastry with limoncino. A perfect way to close the day!
